lucid dreaming of writing a story

Now this could be the story I may have read somewhere or it could be a brand new story created from parts of stories and movies that I have experienced. I don't know about that. I haven't spent time enough on that. What I do know is that some days back I had a bout of lucid dreaming and in that dream I crafted a story.

The story is quite simplistic. There is an american town some hundreds of years ago. People take law in their own hands quite frequently, preferring to settle their dues by themselves. The town sheriff tries his best but no one really cares for law of the land. Then one day the sheriff runs into a problem. A gang of bandits are going to visit the town. They are coming to kill the sheriff and to burn down the police station. The sheriff goes around soliciting help but no one helps him. Then as he is walking around a farm that is out of the town and quite next to the woods he meets a farmer. They chat for a while. Sheriff calls the farmer 'my friend' and just for that the farmer decides to stand and fight with the sheriff. Two women also come forwards. All of them fight the bandits. The farmer kills 5 of them and injures many of them. The sheriff kills two of the bandits. The rest of the bandits are trapped and arrested. Only three bandits are able to escape. This is a huge feat for the sheriff. Everyone comes to fete him but the sheriff never forgets his farmer friend. Both of them become heroes. The farmer eventually proposes to one of the girls who fought with him and they start dating. The girl soon realizes that the farmer is actually quite well read and she falls in love with the fair and brave man. Their marriage is set up for next month. The bandits take this lull to strike. They kill the farmer's mother and in a fit of rage the farmer goes after the bandits. The sheriff tries to stop him, telling him that the law would take its course but the farmer is blinded with rage and he kills all three of the bandits. One of the bandits was not armed and he was begging for his life. This is witnessed by some men who force the sheriff to declare the farmer as an outlaw. The sheriff's hands are tied and he issues an arrest warrant for the farmer who escapes into the woods. The sheriff plans to use the farmer's betrothed to trap the farmer but the farmer was up to the tricks of the sheriff. He sends a message to his would be wife using wood figurines that the girl burns to leave no trace behind. Accordingly she heads to the cliff where the farmer waits for her near a cave. They escape into a cave and block its way. Using the tunnels under the ground, the farmer and his wife escape from the sheriff. An inquiry commission is set up to examine sheriff's role but he is exonerated of all charges. The farmer and his wife are never caught. Twenty years later, the sheriff gets a message to head to the mountains of Canada. He travels all the way to finally meet his friend and his family.  Happy ending indeed!

The details of the dreams were quite vivid the morning I had this dream. Even the colours were so bright. The farmer looked like the actor in the movie John Carter while the sheriff looked like the actor in Interstellar. Every scene merged beautifully with the next one. I didn't have to work very hard on the story. It simply worked out bit by bit while I sat there as an observor, watching the drama unfold right before my eyes. It was exhilarating.

I tried very hard to repeat the steps but so far I have failed in doing so. Even if I feel that a story is being made right before me I don't get the thrill that I got the morning I dreamt this beautiful story. Well, I will wait. Sooner than later it will happen again. I am sure of that.
